Long-time Team Survivor Northwest Member Elaine Eigeman was awarded the Dr. Julie Gralow Award for exceptional contribution to TSNW at the recent TSNW Gala on October 14. The Gralow Award is given annually and named after Dr. Julie Gralow – a Seattle oncologist who helped found TSNW more than 20 years ago. Eigeman has been giving back to TSNW for many years in a myriad of ways, most notably as the former leader of the Midweek Hiking group. Eigeman is also well-known for her tireless work in lymphedema advocacy. At the moment she is working to get a bill passed by Congress that would make it possible for compression supplies to be covered by Medicare. Eigeman was not present to accept her award because she was in Washington D.C. working hard to advance the Medicare bill. TSNW will be eternally grateful to Eigeman for her commitment to helping TSNW grow and thrive. Eigeman credits TSNW for helping to heal her “spirit and body” after her cancer diagnosis.
